  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Also add Aquariam salt to your tanks per directions on box.. per gallons .. this will help with relieving stress and holding back any infections..

try raising the temp by three degrees or so and remove the infected is the way to go.this way the infected will be together and the non infected will be fine!
I don't think so. A lot of internal parasites thrive in organic wastes and when a healthy fish comes in contact, it may likely contract those parasites. Treat the whole tank instead of segregating the infected ones. Even the healthy ones become carriers and thus, continue the lifecycle of internal parasites without being detected easily.

Fish_n_nw, do this step by step instructions for praziquantel dosing.

* Remove carbon.
* Add 2.5 milligrams per liter of water.
* If you are using the powdered version, it is difficult to dissolve. Predissolve in tank water by shaking it up in a small container.
* Dosing
Day 1 -- remove carbon, perform water change with vacuuming, and add Prazi to tank
Day 2 -- add Prazi
Day 3 -- do nothing
Day 4 -- do nothing
Day 5 -- do nothing
Day 6 -- add Prazi
Day 7 -- add Prazi
Day 8 -- normal partial water change with vacuuming
Day 14 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 21 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 28 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 35 - normal partial water change, add carbon, treatment is complete

5mg per liter also works but some fish seem to considerably lose their appetite as the dosage is increased so administer prazi carefully and start with 2.5mg to see if everything improves.

Thank you lupin. I will follow these instructions and post results. I really hope it works. Now to figure out liters to gallons. Thanks again.

3.785 liter per gallon comes out at about 9.5 mg per gallon.

I hope the rest of your fish are okay. Green Terrors in my area come from ponds in Florida and all of them are suicide bombers. They come in with incurable parasites and infect a whole tank. The secondarily infected fish are easily cured by three or four heavy treatments of Prazi-Pro, but the original GT will always re-infest the tank if he isn't killed or returned to the fish store. For some reason, the worm that lives in many GT's will not die, even as its offspring are eradicated all around. To gamble with buying a Gold Saum GT from unknown sources is Russian Roulette. I have forever sworn them off. They also have a habit of starving themselves in spite of great food of every kind being offered. Worst fish ever, if they have the worm or are into starvation. Just be sure to eradicate them from your setups. I learned the hard way. Once the GT's are gone, the parasites stop returning.

Keep up on the Praziquantel and your living fish will be fine. Soak their food in it and put it in their water at full dose once every three days, water change or not. Good luck.

Hate GT's...had such high hopes, too. So pretty. :(

EDIT: Just saw Lupin's post. Good plan, there.
