I have a chance to get a cheap setup!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The setup is tall so it would suit a crestie but you can't beat £30 for a leopard, yeah so payday Friday Ill do an update on exact measurements, TTTT has made me narrow down my choice to either a Leo or a crestie, which one is fun to keep, interactable, active (diurnal obviously) I think cresties look cooler but the Leo is cheaper, easier and colourful and which is more handable and can stay out it's enclosure longer as I might give them the run of the room and is it possible to keep 2 leopards in that enclosure FOR A SHORT TIME?

You could keep 2 leos in that tank for a while. I've never owned cresties but in the videos I've seen they jump alot, like literally jump from hand to hand. My leos are super calm and personable, I'd reccomend one of them.

My crested is calm and sits on the arm of the chair when I watch TV or sleeps under my computer monitor. They're pretty hand-able when they get used to you. Those 22 inches of height will go to waste if you just waste it on a leopard.

That is exactly what i thought a leo could probably live its entire life in that enclosure but a crested will make use of every 1" of that enclosure, and i would only need to upgrade for a beardie, i think ive narrowed myself down (again) to a crestie or a leo.

i like the leo because of the colours, the fat tail and ease of care, but i think the crestie is much more interesting. would a crestie geta fat tail? and what type of food do they eat i have seen a lot of conflicting info on the web of their diet between crickets, mealworms and baby food?

NO baby food!! heh.
for a crestie, get the repashy crested gecko diet, a 4oz bag will last a single critter up to 6 months and is a complete diet.
keep the bugs to a minimum, or use them as bi-weekly treats ( they should still be dusted and gut loaded)

the best part about their diet is, on the CGD, they need no additional supplements, it's all built in.

no special lighting, no special heating ( as long as it doesn't get too hot/cold where you are)

simple setup, or fully planted viv, these guys are easy and fun!

Don

I would also recomend some mashed up fruit for freshness and vitamins. No cresteds dont have fat tails, actualy many adults dont have tails at all.

Right here goes... IF I get this enclosure Friday, and with all the thinking I've been doing I figured with all the spare fish tanks lying around I'll be able to upgrade for the beardie pretty quickly, and tbh I was
craving a beardie but had the patience. Until I went to my local retptile shop and they had
baby beardys, and adult beardies who were healthy active and just down right cute and once they grow out the babys (3 weeks) they'll be for sale.

I know probably being an ass but if I get the beardie and upgrade after a while I will have the perfect crestie setup available.

So here's the plan, buy beardie, upgrade, now have spare ex-beardie tank, buy crestie and keep him in that setup Im happy so are
the lizards (hopefully) what do you think?

I also never realised how cheap bearded dragons are £35 is different than what I was told, apparently they are £75 by friends and shop, damn their ignorance

Well I just hope I can upgrade for the beardie but I reckon I should be able to. I am actually considering selling my xbox 360 as LIVE is getting boring/annoying so ishould have plenty money for the lizards, thanks everyone =D I shall soon make a flickr acount and start uploading updates, i should do this soon!
