For as long as I been keeping fish which has been a long time. I have noticed something but I never really knew why. I never really found out why people would pay so much for a "Wide Bar Dat". They are nice fish in all...but I see them going for very high prices.

So basically my question is...Why are Wide Bar Dats. So expensive?

obviously the price is relative to each person's wealth, but imo, compared to asian arro's and black rays, wide bars are not expensive.

the combination of Gold and Black stipes is VERY unique amongst trpoical fish, and in many opinions, very striking and beautiful (both at less than 5 inch or over 10 inch in size)

Oh, and ban on imports.............. well, that just inflates the price even further.

i'm achin to kick cam's @$$ for not shipping

I may be up for a road trip.

Thanks for all the replys.

As for me keeping fish...Lets see I am 26....so maybe 13 years? First job was at my LFS. Brian's Fish World in San Jose CA. Though its gone now :(

Though I will admit. I never have owned a Dat. Do not know why. I do not find them to be a bad looking fish!

Try keeping one or three. You will get hooked ;)

I will pay more for an ST over anything else because I find they are generally more stable.

I have 3 for sale and cant sell them LOL. Everyone says they want them but when there for sale no one buys.

Just like Camshaft your location is your biggest problem, there does not seem to be many serious dat keepers in your general area and the size of the fish that you guys have presents problems if shipping were an option. They could easily slice open the bags with their spines during transit.Sooner or later someone here should come up with something though.
