i have a problem

If you want to buy a school of them, I suggest you get at least 6 or more. They'll fight each other if they're in a thin school.

Like what has already been said, if you like your green terror, don't mix them.

These are tough bastards that'll slowly rip other fishes apart (starting with fins and scales).

I've seen exodons with cichlids their own size before and the exodons were real bastards towards the cichlids. Your GT's are probably bigger, but it's in the exodons nature to be bastards, so I'd expect the same sort of nipping behaviour.

But 20 exodons in a nicely planted 30 gallon tank by themsleves would look sweet :headbang2

is 20 too many? I read that they get to be 6 inches long.

we have exodons at work and from what experience i have keeping them there, they are bastards. i really don't know what to say to keep them with. anything you try will pretty much be a roll of the dice. my best guess would be keeping them with a bunch of highly agressive s.a. cichlids. OR like a few people have said, just keep them in a school by themselves. they're not the most attractive fish, but i tell you what.. going to feed them would be the biggest feeding frenzy ever. and it'd look cool to all your friends!!! :D

I now plan on keeping them in a 40 gal breeder that I can fit under my 50 gal. breeder. I plan on settin up 2 more tanks, a 10 gal. for dwarf puffers and a 40 gal. for the exodons.

has anybody actually kept exodons here????? Need advice... help me obi wan kenobi, you're my only hope.

I don't think it is a good idea, exodons appearently grow to be 7 inches but i have never seen any bigger then 3 inches. I kept 5 of them with 3 red belly pirahnas when i was a rookie. Lets just say the exodons were bigger then the red bellies when i got them but after about a month they were food for them...and i feed them twice a day.

is it not a good idea to keep them in a 40 gal. tank with a 36 by 18 inch footprint? they would be by themselves
