Yeah I agree.....people seem to think that fish need to eat all the time. Now don't get me wrong cause I feed my fish every day. However think about how fish are in the wild environment. They may go a week or two without being able to find food and they are fine. I would feed them one or two really big meals before you leave and they will be good to go.
my fish are fat. 5 days a week they get 2 possible 3 feedings a day 1 day 1 feeding 1 day none. I am always cleaning.....:nilly: so they didnt get aggresive to each other (since there FATTIES) i had someone feed them once a day while i was gone.

You dont know anyone that'll follow your schedule for you?

I have seen a fat oscar go for more than 4 months without food. It wasn't my oscar. It lived for another 2 years until a filter failed. Adult fish are very good at fasting for very long periods of time.

Juveniles and predators in community tanks do not fast well since one is susceptible to starving and the other is prone to eat the other fish.

Well that is pretty extreme. Anyway, we're concerned about the angelfish he has. Not, his other fish. iloveoscars702 any update from your uncle being able to watch your fish?

is anyone experiened with block feeders??

I like the block feeder idea because the oscar most likely not eat it and the angel fish nis the one im concerned about, and the angel fish will definetly eat that.

Yeah i cut my post a little short before lol, but i would not be to keen on leaving that angel fish unfed, simply because i have one myself that i got 4 mnths ago, i feed it every day twice a day. And I know i'm doin something right cus when i got it (only 4 months ago) its body without the fins was about the size of a quarter, now 2-day just the body of the fish is bigger than a JFK half dollar pretty close to the size of a pack of cigarettes. But yeah my point is u should definetly feed them more than once a week in the first place,so i would definetly go with the feeding block, and i would still see if ur unle could at least go to feed them at least once on the second week.
