i have a question

Diet aside, mbuna and peacocks are both way too rambunctious for Altolamps.

The best companions for peacocks and mbuna are more peacocks and mbuna. But it sounds like you may be getting close to fully stocked with 10 mbuna in a 46. This all depends on what species you keep.

Unfortunately, many of the "mixed Africans" mubna coming out of Petco/Petsmart are the large and aggressive variety... bumblebee, kenyi, auratus, johanni, zebras. Most of these get downright violent and a couple of these get very large... too large for a 46.

I wish Petco/smart was more responsible with the Africans they sold. The "mixed African" tank has a collection of cute little brightly colored 2" cichlids and I guarantee you that 95% of their employees don't know what a Pseudotropheus crabro (a bumblebee) is or the fact that they get 8" long and psychotic as adults. They sell them in near every one of their stores because they're hearty and attractively colored as juveniles (the males will eventually turn all black).

The customer goes home with 10 small fish for their 30 gallon tank and by the end of 3 months all but two and the standard pleco are dead. I think that this scares away many folks from keeping Africans. It's a shame.

So, sorry for the rant... post up some pics and we'll help you ID the problem children and get your setup running smoothly. :)
