anything for you hun.. :headbang2

I have seen the pull out drawer idea work before, but it does pose limitations to overall useability. Cabinet making is not all that hard. I would be willing to offer advice if you need it.

So you will not be using the overflows?

i have to use the center overflows, there is no other way to get water in and out of the tank to the filter. i just may not be using them the conventional way.

Because the table is all the way around the tank there is no back side for hoses or filters to run. so i MUST have the overflows in the center. how i'm going to hook up the pond filters and make the water flow at this point is still in the works.

i figured out that a stand tube that goes slightly higher than the over flow is how i'll be getting the air lines in to the tank for the foam filters. And i think with the length of my tank i'm going to need two overflows, especially if i decide to go with the 8 ft version.

Just a suggestion, but just do the center overflow into a sump. If you are worried about the pump going out for the loss of electricity then I would suggest a battery backup to plug it into. This way you could have a small cabinet underneath housing everything you could need. I would also make sure that the table top is sealed well. I would hate it if someone went to clean off the table and accidentally sprayed something on it and it ran down into the tank and killed off all the locals.

I agree in this situation. Setup the tank so that it is on a sump. Then, just run your spong filters in your sump. If the power goes out, move your sponges into the tank. If you are going to go to the effort of making a really nice display tank, you wouldn't want to kill the look by having spong filters in the tank.

What type of pond filter? I ask since they are not clarifier's (they don't polish the water).

This is going to be a great feature in your house!

Don't know yet.. i have just barely started researching them. any and all suggestions are welcome.

i have that big canister thing that my ex hubby left behind. don't remember what it is though. He put a powerhead on it and pushed water through when he was having trouble keeping the water clean in my 150. he probably could have fixed the entire problem if he'd bothered check the tank though.. (long story, doesn't belong here).

i have a couple of used but good working powerheads, i'm sure i'm going to need a pond pump though. probably less expensive anyway.

like i said, much more research needed.

I think I get the idea now. I agree you should use the overflow into a sump below also. Perhaps under gravel jets to keep the water flowing in the tank rather than visible powerheads too.. This also handles the issue of getting the water back to the tank.

In my head I am sitting at the table right now.
