I have flowerhorn eggs first time I NEED HELP!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If your fish were raised by their parents they have a better chance of not eating their offspring. Sometimes new parents eat the youngun's then never eat them again, its all the parents temperament. They do look kinda young and may stop eating them, who knows

I now have wigglers , they dont seem to be getting eaten so im gonna leave them in there with the parents for a while ! or should I take them out ,
Wckd I know you are going to say take them out !
I just want others opinions I like watching fry with thier parents

thanks

well I woke up this morning , I walked around the house feeding the fish tanks
when i walked in my boys room where the flowerhorns are , i looked in the pot where they layed the eggs and where they hatched all that was there was white eggs that didnt hatch they had fungus growing on them and the female was eating them , i didnt see any babies . i thought man they ate all the fry !
i looked in the small clay pot and there they were , they couldnt get there by themselves so i guess the parents moved them there and since they moved them on thier own I guess they dont want to eat them , so they are going to stay with the parents till they are free swimming

Thanks for all the help , everyone

I would leave them alone until they hatch but when they hatch and are free swimming take the babies out and put them in there own tank... Feed babie brine shrimp until they can eat bigger foods....

Use a spong filter when you transfer them because they will just get sucked up by your filter... Make sure its a decent size tank to I would day at least a 29 gal the bigger the better your gonna have a lot of babies, if they hatch.... Your FH look kinda young from the pictures so dont be suprised if they arent fertle the first time...

GOOOD LUCK :woot:  :headbang2

i wouldnt remove them when they hatch, let the babys feed on mom and dads secretions, the nwhe nthey get a tee big bigger you can remove them.

There is like a ga-billion of em , parents seem to be doing well with them
they are now free swimming and im feeding them liquifry, as for what im gonna do with them ....I`m gonna sell them !

Patrick: If you have an empty tank, I suggest removing the fry and placing them in their own aquarium.

Often times the parents will feel overwhelmed and/or threatened and will cull their fry to a more manageable size. Just my .02 cents. :naughty:
