I have new tank syndrome...ugh

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Quick update.

I reduced feeding too about 50% of what I was feeding daily once every 2 days (75% reduction in food), did a couple water changes a few days apart, added 60gals worth of aquaclear ammonia absorption filer media.

I'm now back down to between 0.0 and .25ppm ammonia with it going down every day. I lost the two pictus cats at the beginning of the crash but the tetra that was on the brink pulled through.

i just got a 150 liter tank because of a leak in my other tank and i put all the gravel, water and filter from previous tank into my new tank then just filled it up with additional water and everything has been fine

Every time I set up a new tank, I throw some 10¢ comet goldfish in to help the cycling. Works great, and then when the tank is stable, I have the comets to feed to my bigger fish! Win win!

Go to a good lfs and ask or buy a sponge filter or log ect from one of there healthy looking tanks. Put it in your tank. Viola your tank will be cycled pretty much overnight. I do that everytime. Or better yet uses something from your own tank so you know its safe.
