Don't mean to highjack this wonderful thread, but no they don't eat those particular plants, that's why they're in there. However, they do grow very slowly.

a lot of shops over here in HK use those rocks and other larger holed rocks for their aquascaping in planted tanks... works wonders if you mix and match a bit and use a bit of creativity...
