so about a month ago i decided i was going to try out datnoids for a change not sure why bc for awhile i never liked them but i got up one morning and said " i want datnoids " so i went on a hunt and picked up a few from a guy in nyc. they were all great for the first week out and about then they each found there own spot then i noticed one was bullying the other 2 around. i came home today and one was at the top of the tank with his fins chewed up behind the intake of my fluval. so i changed the tank around moving the wood, rocks, plants. everyone has found a new spot if it happens again what does everyone suggest get rid of the bully??? get a few more to break the tention???

2.5 to 3 inch max in a 55 gallon when i got them they were in a 55 with a bunch of other dats not sure how many but i kno there were ALOT all diff sizes and everyone was fine. the bully dominates at feeding time taking as many pellets/smelt as he can.

hahaha these fish r as confusing as my wife i luv it. so after i changed the tank around i turned the lights off to keep everyones stress down i just turned the light on a and the guy who was being bullyed was swiming around stable as could be very nice colors and the bully is up in the top behind my over hang black as could be so i figured i would see if anyone wanted to eat everyone came out to eat but the bully i had to hand feed him at the back of the tank. these fish r great never kno what to expect

I have never kept multiple dats at a time and every IT I've owned was strange at some point. I have currently been growing out a an IT that is 3 inches now, and he goes from being the dominate fish and claiming 70% of the 135 he's in. Then within a second he is hiding under one the filter outlets. A few minutes later he has taken the entire rocky outcrop in his tank, and will for a week or so then he's back to acting submissively under a rock on the opposite side of the tank. His brief bouts of insecurites only last a few mins and i have never figured it out because he is never chased ever. For a week he'll eat off the substrate then instantly he'll act like its foreign concept for him and he is not sure what to make of it.

with more than one tiger per tank you will always have a bully as they live on there own in the wild

take out the bully wont help as another will take his place

adding more wont help as you will always have a alpha

thanx guys maybe i will just stick a few more hiding spots for them to hide thanx again
That most likely isn't going to do anything. Your choices are add a few more so aggression is spread out or keep one. This is why people recommend adding 5 at once and no less. Dats will always fight but if you have multiple ones the bully can attack 4 rather than 2

that was my plan but i am trying to get them as small as possible and i could only find these few at first i have anouther one that i am going to pick up next week at the same size as the other ones and keeping my eyes out for one or two more and i would like to make a dat and poly tank.

its normal that one of them will try to establish dominance.. The best way to curb this kind of aggression is to have more dats..

alternatively you can try other fast moving shiny fish that distracts them. Silver dollars are a good choice, you dont have to worry about them being whacked up cos they can swim faster than dats :).
