I Have Problems...

I doubt the beaver is getting in to your trash...are you throwing trimmings from your yard plants in the trash?...

beavers done eat trash..left over food, fish guts or any of that they are STRICTLY vegetarians who eat tree bark and the soft tissue, called cambium that lies beneath the bark.

please don't poison them ..not only do you poison the animal you are targeting but anything that eats them will die..and pets ext ..or kids get a hold of the poison.

"Diet

Beavers are pure vegetarians, subsisting solely on woody and aquatic vegetation. They will eat fresh leaves, twigs, stems, and bark. Beavers will chew on any species of tree, but preferred species include alder, aspen, birch, cottonwood, maple, poplar and willow. Aquatic foodstuffs include cattails, water lilies, sedges and rushes. Cattail and water lily tubers are favorites. Using their nimble front paws, beavers will roll lily pads like cigars to eat them. Beavers do not eat fish or other animals."

My wife may put stuff from her garden in there occasionally. We also have 2 piles of wood ready for burning that may be attracting it. I'm not just taking guesses here, I seen the thing crawl out of a trash can that somehow got knocked over...And for the record, I don't plan on harming it.

Kelly did. Maybe its like other animals and once it eats something out of desperation or curiosity and finds out its tasty, it keeps going back for that tasty treat? I don't know, just throwing out ideas as to why a vegetarian would pass up the burn pile for left over steak....

Beaver problems! Here I thought the 4 kittens and the lonely raccoon were the sole critters getting into my trash. Nope...There's what I would estimate to be a 30 pound beaver making his way up from the lake, through the barns, and up toward my house where it ensues to get in my trash and in turn, really tick me off. Any suggestions for what I should put in a trap for bait?

I don't see anything wrong here. No point in killing it. Let it go dig through the trash. Its not disgusting its just we got to the food first. If u have food in the trash why let it go to waste? Their are thousands of starving animals out there that could use that food. Don't just let it rot... idc if it makes a mess that doesn't justify anything.

maybe it is old or has teeth problems, something that's making it venture into new feeding realms.
I think you should fix up a nice bowl of garbage or stand outside all night with hands full of whatever it wants to eat.
and name it, definitely name it!
;)
then of course, lock up your cans. don't want him disturbing the neighbors.
