Sunday morn I woke up and saw a cloud of fry in my 55g. The male tex and female con were guarding them as if they were theirs. I do have a male convict in there as well so there is a possibility that the male tex is just confused. He is the dominant fish in the tank, so I doubt the male con got a chance to breed with her, but it is possible. Here are some pics, let me know what you think. PS. anyone ever had a tex x con hybrid? pics?

I would say that you have Texi-Cans:ROFL:
Congrats...and good luck keep the thread updated...perhaps it will get moved to the Hybrid Forum..

How big do they get? Like tex size or con size? Characteristics? Colors? Prolly have to grow one out to find out huh? I'll try and update weekly. :D

Here's a question: will a hybrid fish, look the same every time? I mean, will it look different if I had a male convict and a female texas? Or will each batch of fry look different no matter what? Or will they look the same no matter what? Which characteristics do the fry take on, the male or female? Or a little of both?

You can get loads of different looking fish in each batch of fry.

If we were able to grow all of the fry to adult size, probably get a handful of different looking fish like when you see red devil parrot fish hybrids that look different to each other.

u got a pretty cool hybred right there your covict mom has got great colors grow some out u shuold get a few with a good mix of colors and patterns from both lol

Yea, I'm excited to see what they will look like. Hopefully I'll get a handful of lookers. Not sure what I'll do with the others yet. I wonder if males and females will differ much in colors.
