I'll do my best to keep up on photos. Silica sand from Lowes.

Not really into hybridising, but that sure is a nice set of parents dude!

I can't say that I didn't try, but I do have my reasons. Texas cichlids are hard to come by here, and I don't have the space for two breeding tex, and their fury. I like cons, and I've heard they are good cichlids to breed for beginners. So I brought home two females and a male, and threw them in the 55g with my tex and gt. Whammo, fry. Not sure what I'll do with them just yet. I'll probably keep a few, the most colorful, and use the others as feeders. We'll see though, depends on what they look like I guess.

my male texas mated with my female con. The female con was originally partnered with a male con. I let the fry cannibalize one another until only one remained, unfortunately that little guy liked chasing his reflection so much that he jumped out of his 10g when he was scarcely 3/4" an inch long.

Keep us updated on the babies... Maybe SOME of them will look like this guy below... If I'm not wrong, Miles had him.

Best regards.

Daniel.

Wow, how big do you think that fella was? He looks pretty cool.:headbang2

I just went to a fish store yesterday and they had some Tex x Cons. They were interesting...the colors were a bit drab, but it would be interesting to see how they would look at a bigger size. The ones I saw were about 3"

Well, its been about two weeks since my first batch of fry hatched, and now I have a second batch! I chose not to remove the fry from the parents (first batch) and all were eaten, but one. I moved him into a ten gallon, all by his lonesome. But this second batch I will be removing in a couple of days. Right now the older brother is too transparent for me to get a good picture of him, but as soon as I can I will get one. Here's one of the latest batch.
