Yeah just about and thats awesome i wish i could see that tank! also how long have you had yours because i was just wondering the growth rate?

Usually, the orange on the L114 will disappear as it get older. As for growth rate, they have growth spurts (or at least mine did). They grew slowly until 2.5-3" (SL), and then in a few months they became 4.5-5" (SL). I have 2 (3-4) year olds L114 (5 and 6" SL), and one 18-24 month old (2.5- 3" SL which is loosing it's orange tail). (Also in the tank, a 75g, are 2 L600 2" that I got from Jim who bred them and sold them at the Catfish Convention; supposedly the parents kept the red in their tail when mature; am hoping the same for these youngins).

I had 2 for 1 1/2 year the other 2 I got recent. Agree with lines_cello on the growth rate. You might not get to see them a lot but when you do it like dame it gotten big.

Thanks Linus_Cello for the insight i really hope mine keeps his tail cuz i think it is the coolest thing no matter what he is he is one of my favorite fish! I also just got a L400 2" and L190 4" for 30 bucks total not too bad of deal! excited to see how the L400 grows out! But once again thank you for the insight on the L114 and the L600 :clap

Thanks Rotaryp04s like i said above this guy is one of my favorite fish the only thing that is different with what you said is that he is not afraid to just hang out in my tank i see him all the time he never is hiding or anything like that. Thank you again for the help! :clap

In case you didn't see my response on your other thread re: L114/600:

Hmm- they head of this looks more like L114 (the dots in L600 at the head are much smaller). However, as I see you're in Michigan, there is a breeder of L600 in Michigan and has sold a lot of his L600 babies (who, as I mentioned in the other post, sold some L600 at the Catfish Convention), so you may actually have one of Jim's L600.

This is Jim's post for 2" fry for L600: http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/v...p?f=24&t=37002
