Long story, but somewhat amusing:

So my birthday was on Tuesday. On Monday I ordered two ropefish, a 12" delhezi, and a 7" teugelsi from rehobothaquatics :headbang2 I asked that they be delivered on Thursday, my day off.

Wednesday night my colleagues take me out for "a quick drink" that turns into an eight-hour pub crawl. Thursday afternoon I wake up at around 2 pm with a nice hangover. Ok... here's where the bichirs come back in: I walk outside and see the mailman and ask him if he has my package.

He responds: "Oh, I attempted delivery at 10:20" Apparently the combination of too much vodka and workmen hammering across the hall led me to sleep through his knock.
I think: "Darn, I hope they're alive, seeing as I've missed my chance to make a "live arrival" claim."
Then he says the words that send a chill down my spine: "Yeah, the box was all wet."

I bolt over to the post office. When I ask for my package the clerk winces and says "I hope this isn't a tragedy..." They had placed my cardboard box inside a plastic bin. The clerk asked if I wanted to open it there, but given that I had already lost my warranty I decided to just get them home ASAP. I tore open the soggy box, praying that it wasn't the teugelsi (that little bugger was expensive). Luckily he and the ropefish were fine, but the delhezi looked very pale and very motionless. There was maybe an inch of water in the bag. I decided to skip acclimation and just tossed him in the tank. Would you believe it, he sprung to life within a minute and was eating an hour later! A birthday miracle!

(note: I'm not sure how the bag sprung a leak... aside from the inch of water, the box looked very well packed. Not a knock on rehobothaquatics... I'll definitely be ordering from them soon. And the teugelsi rocks... gonna be a great bichir when he gets a little bigger.

Forgot to mention the one detail that sticks in my head the most--- me running out of the post office like a madman literally streaming water all over the floor.

I have a friend who works at the Post Office. He's pretty careful with packages, but says that there are guys there that don't care and have seen guys toss boxes marked "fragile" across the room before.

good deal
