With Africans yes but not in a 29

With CA/SA not ever unless your awfully lucky. I personally tried to do an overtocked tank experiment. I got all the fish at .5"-1.5" and grew them all out together. By the time the fish matured in my 265 gallon tank, overstocked or not they didn't get along. It was a very stressful situation with all the constant fighting and fish were dying. Another issue was the water quality suffered horribly. I had to do a 50% water change twice a week to keep up. I'm glad that experiment is over. I sold more than half the fish to my lfs and kept only my fave's.

A pair of Sajica or HRP might be a nice choice for your tank btw. GL

that sums it up, that would be your best choice with out upgrading in my opinion

dont get a puffer as they are a pain in the butt , especially if you just a begginer

puffers arent a pain in the butt! just get a filter for a tank 3 times the size and your fine. thats what i did :) and i was just a beginer when i got mine. do a little research and youll be an expert on how to take care of them.

I would either go with either:

1.Pair of cons
2.3 Pictus cats and a top dweller like 3-4 hatchetfish
3.A pair of German blue rams
4.A pair of Kribs with 3-4 danios for dithers

go with the pair of small cichlid of your choice rather than the dwarf puffers. The cichlids are much more hardy, will breed, and are just not as boring as the puffers.
