Bingo. Most CA hobbyists haven't seen a hartwegi with this kind of color & pattern at 4", because the vast majority of them are not pure hartwegi, they are a Thai bred strain known as red spot hartwegi aka Pranburi red spot vieja aka red spot (fill in the blank). For the most part they tend to attract flowerhorn keepers.

Nice fish, great color & pattern, but the chances of it being a pure hartwegi is slim to none.

The color of a fish can vary due to numerous factors, but I wouldn't expect a pure hartwegi to look like the OP's fish does at 4 inches. Yours appears to be in a comm tank with other males, which in some cases can greatly affect the color of a more sub dom male.
interesting, i'm from thailand and pranburi is a city in the south by the coast, i didn't know they were known for breeding vieja hybrids![]()
They have a lot of hybrid. The latest I saw in Singapore look like Vieja Fene but they categorize them as Flowerhorn. I also saw one of their so call Vieja Syn is so brightly yellow in color on the body with a red head. Not sure this is hybrid but is real stunner
