Well I am going to try and slim down my collection (again) and just keep one tank. I have a 40 long sitting in my basement right now empty cuz I don't have anywhere to put it but I will as soon as I get rid of the other tanks. So what I need you guys to do for me is to find me a good "pet" LIZARD for this tank. I would love to have a snake but my mom won't let that happen lol. I will have a good bit of money to spend...nothing outrageous but enough. So please give me some suggestions. I have been thinking about this for MONTHS if not YEARS and I just can't decide what I want to do. I am basically capable of keeping anything. I have kept herps before and know my fair share of reptile stuff... Oh and I can do basically anything DIY so if you have an idea shoot.

blue tounge skinks would be the best lizard imo, They are very hardy lizards most if not all would be captive bred, and have a good lifespan like 15 years or so. Do a little research first of course but that would be my suggestion.

Start looking into plastic enclosures like Boaphille. The best thing about herps and inverts is that you can stack their enclosures -- thus saving a lot of room since most of it will be vertical.

Well if the tank is a 40 gallon long, you're going to want to go with some sort of small, ground dwelling species of lizard. That tank is too small for a bearded dragon for life. Maybe you could get some sort of ground gecko species.

If that was my tank I would get a pair of Crocodile Skinks (Tribolonotus gracilis). I have always wanted a pair of these guys. Are there any reptile shows coming to your area? You could check one out and see what type of lizard sparks your interest.

I have always loved BTS. I know that a 40 long is too small for life but I can build :) . As long as it could stay for atleast 6 months that is about my deadlne for upgrading so really anything that can stay in that tank for about 6 months. Obviously I cannot house something like a sav monitor or something that big though. Ummm I have kept beardies before and I hated it! It ended up being super mean and striking anytime I came near the glass. Also one problem I have always found when researching BTS is thier diet! Is there anyone that can give me a clear diet for them or an example that I could go off. Oh and do they need UVB(that seems to be debated alot about them too). Also my mom is deathly afraid of frogs lol.

I dont plan on keeping 1001 herps so I dont think that will be really that big of a deal for me lol. Thanks though

What kind of temperment do these guys have. They look really cool. Do they swim?
