They can still turn on even if they do turn off automatically. Why bother spending the extra few cents. Sheesh. Why NOT unplug your heater to be sure it isnt turning on? Common sense. There isnt a reason not to.
if your heater is still turning on when the temperature is above its set point, i suggest you throw it out and get a new one because it's broken. THAT'S "common sense".
taking the heater out of the tank because you don't like the look of it is reasonable... but just unplugging it for no reason makes no sense to me at all.
the reason to leave it plugged in is that you're not wasting time and effort to plug and unplug your heater unnecessarily. i don't know, do you unplug your toaster when you're not using it?
i didn't mean to irritate you with my questioning, i was just looking for a little insight as to why some people unplug their heaters. i thought i might have been missing something, but i guess not.
