And you say "little" how small do you mean? Were you wanting just one single fish for your 55 or would you prefer a small school of fish? (Ones that actually school together)

a school would be cool im just really worried about over crowding the tank i did it before and felt so bad i gave my fish away to people with bigger tanks

I say you get...a bigger tank and use thee 55 for a sump. j/k If you're only wanting one fish you could always go with a piranha. That's just a personal favorite for me.

my floor would fall out lol

i was thinking a beta but i was told it would die b/c its to much space dont they live in rivers
False. Bettas are great community fish and love to be treated like fish rather than decorations. I've had bettas in tanks up to 55g and they look better and get stronger in some current.

As far as what you can put into a 55g, stay away from any fish that exceeds 8"-10" in adult length. There are a lot more guidelines than that, but it's a decent starting point for checking species profiles for fish you think you want.

Is the tank cycled properly?

yes from what i have been told its been set up for about 3 weeks now
So all the ammonia you added has been converted to nitrates?

I'd get some puffers (most likely brackish) for a 55 gallon, or a huge shoal of exodons.
