My brother got the python around ten or eleven years ago but hasn't really taken the best care of him over the past few years so I asked him if I asked him if I could put it in my room and he said okay. The snake is about three and a half or four feet long but he skinny so he looks a lot smaller than he actually is. Right now he has a very basic enclosure but i want to redo the set up. What would be the best set up for them. Thanks for the help i will try a post pictures he is a very nice snake and hasn't bit anyone yet...

Ball pythons should not be skinny, they are usually very plump and at that size should be about as thick as a beer bottle in their center of mass. a 40 breeder or 55gal are good size tanks for them. put a heating pad on one end and a water bowl on the other end and provide lots of cover. I would refrain from handling until you get some weight on the thing. Any undue stress at this point could kill it (depending on just how skinny it is of course). Start feeding a few days after it is set up to allow the snake to settle in. I would try 2 small rats to start with until more weight is gained, then move up to mediums after she is established.

good advice also feed every 4 to 5 days and once weight is there u can lay off to 7 to 10 days also refrain from any heat lamps because there nocturnal and the lamp sucks humidty like crazy

She's about three quarters the size a beer bottle... I should feed her two small rats about once a month when she gets to the right size? Also my friend is thinking about getting ball pythons and he was wondering if he could keep two of them in a 45g wide thanks

no, 2 small rats a week!

post a picture and I can sex it for free. they max out at about 5 feet so she will probably only get fatter for now

Ok but I heard you had to probe them

to be absolutely 100% accurate, you need an x-ray. I would say that visually sexing them is about 85% accurate with an experienced herper.
