I just got a fish aquarium and my ammonia levels are high. What do I do??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Update: Amonia 1-2 ppm. Nitrites not showing up yet.

Don't worry, they'll arrive. Try and curb your excitement young man. Lol.

At the moment it's like the days leading up to Christmas where you know what your main present is. We've all been there. You're all excited and can't sleep at night thinking about opening your shiny new bike with a zillion gears, and, er, a bell! All your mates at school are asking what you're getting for christmas, and you proudly stand there, chest out, and say, "i'm getting nitrite for christmas."

You will never make enough to pay your parents back .
Congrats on your new head ach. Tank and fish look nice. Hang in there. Your journey has just begun.
Start mowing lawns ,raking leaves , shoveling snow. The bigger the fish the bigger the tanks. The more money and time it takes. And remember fish are living breathing ( water ) animals. That take time , money , and like you will soon find out some need attention . Wag thier tail fin when they see you .
And keeping fish is addictive. PS welcome to the fourm.

Selling guppies is also a great way to earn some extra money
It sure is! Growing fish out is also another way.The biggest tank I have is a 75.That 75 has probably seen over 30 tenants lol I have raised rtc,tsn ,channa maruloides ripsaw cats and countless others. Not all of them in the same tank though,I keep up on WCs and feed them a good quality diet and they'll grow up in no time.Make sure they're going to a home with an appropriately sized tank:).
