I just got a massive MTS bloom in my tank

techguyss, you actually only need about 3. Then overfeed for a week. You will now have 50. lol. Just go to a petsmart/petco, and ask them to give you some. They hate them.

Yes.

I would not get a loach to get rid of snails.

I used to have one (seriously) MTS and one day I saw about 500 super tiny MTS. They never really increased in numbers, and eventually that generation started shrinking and I still had about 500 but in all different sizes. Then they just started to disappear again and now I am back to only a small amount again. I wouldn't really worry about MTS too much, but if you really feel the need to get rid of them, assassin snails are the least invasive option.
But will the assassin snails multiply like the mts?

My challenge is that I have about 6 assassin snails in my tank. And they are hungry. I might have to setup another little something just for snails to multiply. Petsmarts and their ilk are beginning to get better about their snail infested plants and tanks. But I will check them out again.

Thanks for the info.

Sorry, I didn't see you had assassins. I'm not sure what their "kill rate" is like, as I've never kept them, but you could set up even a small 2g or 5g for reproducing MTS. Not much work and easy to maintain. The MTS don't seem to be too picky on anything.
Sorry. I'm off the OP's topic. I haven't had moss balls before, but I find the MTS do seem to collect in my large wad of java moss. Perhaps because it (as the moss balls would as well) collects detritus and food particles. In removing some of them, I've found if I throw in a slice of cucumber weighted at night, in the morning, it's covered in MTS. Just pull it out, and repeat.
