You can own gamefish as long as they are legally collected/obtained. They have to be within size limits and caught on line and tackle, so on and so forth.

Mainly true...there are places like Wisconsin though, where it is now illegal to transport ANY fish alive away from any body of water. You have to be on a special permit for that, and another one to hold live fish. Not cool.

Are you sure it was the temperature change? I've heard that water sitting in a garden hose can collect toxins from the hose that'll kill your fish. So if you're using a garden hose, a person should run it for a bit to get all the old water out first.

That was one of the best parts about fishing in WI was the chance of catching something really cool to bring home and put in your tank!
