Indeed, mine was nasty
my buddy had one years ago, he couldnt keep anything with him, but i must say the cat had a great personality (like most catfish)
i remember when my buddy was doing a water change on his tank the ARTC would follow his hand and would even let my buddy pet him, but if i tried to pet him, he would go to the corner of the tank and wait till i left

Yep, Came in as an ARTC.... I've read They can and can not be commed with other fish. For the moment he's to small to eat anything in my community tank ( I'm sure this will change! hence the 56 being cycled) I will def share my experiances as he grows w/ you guys =) for 8$ and I'm a sucker for the lil guy all beat up I think he's worth a shot growing out to put in the pool. If he doesn't work out then I'll cross that bridge in the next few years as I did w/ my other 2 big cats when we get there.. for the momen he'll be pampers and spoiled and hopefully grow nice and big and beautiful!

I think you both were lucky. Usually an ARTC or a wyckii would attack the net, the hand, anything that enters his territory. Must have still been smallish?

Got mine at 1.5" and grew to 10" in a 29g. He was sold to me as a cat species that only grows to 4". He bit me a few times when I'd clean the tank but I never though much of it till I found out exactly what it was. Haha got rid of him later that week

The experiences vary, that's why I said "usually" but far from always. I could pick mine two wyckiis 1' and 1.5' up out of the water and they would not even move a muscle (when I got them out in the open in my 4000 gal pond) but if I stuck anything in their lair - clay half-planter, - a net, a tongs, a gravel vacuum, I would always feel a strong blow. Needless to say no fish dared to go into their planters.

Am I the only one that wants to see a video of something like this? that would be crazy!

And yes if I hadn't seen a wyckii actually commed in person long-term i'de have left the little guy at the lfs... BUt I'm gonna give it a shot once hes big enough to not get eaten in the pool ( and the cluster of issues i'm having w/ it lately are hammered out)
