I like parachromis - discussion

dovii pair. i dont think a 180 is to small at all for a pair of dovii. seen adults in a 180 down in altoona looked nice. male roughly 17 inches and the female 9-10 inches. thats what id go with out of the parachromis if you want a pair. if you want a mix i would try to find a female jag and male dovii to get along then id go that route. chances would be much greater of female jag getting along with male dovii then male jag and male dovii

What ever you decide is going to be hit or miss... If you go all males start them off small as you will have a better chance. I have a Dovii, RTM and Freddy in my tank with a bunch of other cichlids and they make due, but def don't like each other. The Freddy is the boss of the three, however the Dovii is the new fish on the block... also the smallest. The Freddy is double his size (8" to 4"). As for keeping breeding pairs of each... I would say a foot print of about 10' by 5' would be a start, but who knows?

I think I'm going to order six parachromis loisellei at 1.5" to try and get a pair, as well as have some vieja, maybe a synspilum and possibly a bifasciaus.

Might be a disaster. I'll remove them if it ever becomes a problem.

I'm thinking the 10 foot long, 5 foot wide, and maybe a 3 foot deep tank would be sweet. Would it be enough for breeding pairs of each? I'm not sure either, but it would be 1200 gallons of awesome.

lol

I could sell stuffed parachromis! So cuddly!
