Can anybody give me some advice as to what else (besides bluegills)would be a good native to keep in a tank,i live near a place that sells natives to the city i live in for our lakes and ponds,so i have a pretty good selection.I just want to know wich fish can survive the best in a home aquarium,thanks

small yellow perch look great. caught many about 6 inches last year. i will be keeping some this year

It would be a big help to list the species you can get from that seller and what size tank/filtration you plan on keeping them in.

They have Bluegills,Trout,Small and Big mouth bass,and Perch.I will be keeping the fish in a 55gal for awhile...maybe a year.

Limit yourself to just a couple of 'gills then... trout require chiller, etc. and the bass just get too big too fast for a 55

chain pickerel and grass pickerel are awesome little monsters if you can get them. BTW, what place in MA sells natives?

I would go with either the perch or bluegills, the bluegills are fiestier but the young perch will school.
