I lost a fish

Optimist ID'd your fish correctly. Pity, they're not the easiest fish to find.
They're a close relative of the convict and they stay a bit smaller, are less aggressive and are a bit more sensitive in regard to water quality as well as stress but they're beautiful. Should you come across them again cause for them properly and they'll flourish.

not 100% but i think it was a convict but how do u lose it was it eatin or did it jump outta ur tank lol

Speaking of losing fish... I went away for a weekend and found one of my Payara dead at the bottom of my tank... I had him for about 2 years he was about 8inches long. I still have one more but would like to get him another buddy.

Talk about a difficult fish to get a replacement for. If anyone has any leads where to get another even if it's online I would appreciate it.

yea that is a cryptoheros nanolutus, im getting a bunch of them on friday, they are cool

I went away on Saturday, and came home on Sunday, and it was gone. The tank is acrylic, and has a major overhang on the top, so I would think it would be hard to jump out. I haven't found a body, so I am pretty sure it was eaten. I don't know if I will go back to the LFS that I got him from. He told me it was something else, and also that it would get to 10". If I knew what it was, I wouldn't have risked it.

Definately not getting any more of them. I have JD's, GT's, FH's a breeding pair of Texas Cichlids, and a few others. Nothing that is good for them.

u know if u want them bad enought get rid of the texas thats prob wit did it i tryed to put a texas in my tank it was a lil bit smaller than my jd and after 27 hours i had to sell him they r bad mo fo's but yeah don't buy anymore they will die fast sorry

I think it might have been my Senegalus. He picked off a few small FH's.
