I do hope that’s not a pic of the fish in the “pond”

Again, sad
Fortunately you loved the fish
no no that was the tub i used to tranfer its body so i could bury it.
BTW thanks

I'm curious has to how this happened. Daytime temps in Saudi at this time of year are favourable for tropical fish, even without heaters. But night time temps can fall to mid teens, which is obviously too cold. Is it the night time temps which played a part in its sad demise? Do you not need heaters at night time at this time of the year?

And how did the ammonia spike come about?

AR1, I know you're very upset you lost your favorite fish and are considering potentially leaving the hobby, but I want to encourage you to continue. A few months ago, I had a huge disaster where I lost a very expensive pleco among a few other fish; it was devastating to lose those fish as the pleco had been with me since the beginning, and my mom had given it to me (we chose it together and she bought it for me). I was seriously also thinking about backing out. But I didn't, and I'm very happy I decided to move on as I've become a lot more successful and less reckless.

You could find another fish you love and become your precious pet and let it turn you into the best fish keeper you can be. Let this experience form you into something greater. Don't let it completely bring you crashing down. Rise up and dust yourself off!

Since you really liked that fish, save up the money and buy yourself another one and/or continue taking care of what you have.

I hope this helps; I genuinely mean every word of it. :)

yes you are correct. KSA is a desert, so night temperatures here fall pretty low especially in winters. i have covered my pond and tried insulating it, with adding warm water daily to it. this helps to keep the water a bit warm. in summer the temps are between 50c to 30c but in winters it is 30c to 5c. i don't know what caused the ammonia spike, but i managed to fix it now, using a wierd way. i lifted the cover of my pond to let the sunlight come in it. I had a huge algae bloom which resulted in loss of nitrates and nitrites. now it is becoming clear, and the rest of the fish are fine

Your words made me realize what a idiot i was, for thinking to give up so quickly. you made me realize that despite ups and downs, i must continue to do what i love most. Thanks a lot for your support and of many others out there. i will continue my hobby with the support and encouragement of all of you. thanks again
