The red devil was the same size both were 5inches that not a young adult fish..
So man but the red devil was just hand down meaner then the dovii. If wouldnt have gotten rid of the dovii the devil would have stressed it out and killed it.
 
Amphs are like the tazmanian devil of fish, but a large dovii is like the terminator. At 14" my dovii is out of his shy phase. When he hits the glass it sounds like someone is tapping on it with a piece of metal. I still think my midevil would give him a big challenge.

John Tindall John Tindall , at 5 inches a red devil is sexually mature and yes, a young adult. A dovii, who maxes out at 25 INCHES, is still a juvenile at 5 inches. That red devil is much older than that dovii. Maturity and age is much more important than size. So ya, when you put a teenager with a baby, the teen will win. But as soon as that dovii hit the same age as the devil, it would be lights out.
 
I will also add a 5 inch midas will weigh about 15/20% more then a 5 inch dovii, so your midas is alot bigger and size matters in these things

Ya Red Devils can be mean. But with a dovii of equal age.... they stand no shot. The dovii is built to be a predator and a fighter. They have some of the most muscular bodies in the cichlid world, one of the biggest set of canines, are insanely fast and get 2ft+....not much can go up against that.
