I might be getting a free 55g

Looks like I missed out on the 55:irked:

But a friend of mine is buying a guitar of mine, so I have 400$ to work with....

Tempted to just take it to petsmart/petco and get a 40b. 55's just seem SO shallow to me:\ Petsmart sells the 40b with hood & light for 120, another 50 for the filter and 30 for the heater and I'd be in business. I've already got sand lined up & driftwood on the way so decor is covered...

Now I'm just torn between a 40b for the extra depth or a 55 for the extra length....
 
The ad you described sounds exactly like a free 55g tank that was posted in my area(Central Pa) a few months ago. Free tank, trim pulling away, sat outside, 2 stands all for free...

What you described sounds almost verbatim to what was posted in my area so it may have never actually existed...
 
Could be...she emailed me back after about a day saying the first person had flaked. she emailed me 4 or 5 hours after that saying that the first persons second email actually went to junk and offered me some free dental whitening stuff from her office or something to apologize I guess....it was weird.

At this point....I figure I'm getting 400 bucks for a guitar I'm selling, I'll probably just go to petsmart, get a tank (comes with hood & lights) and pick up an ac70 & a heater. Not really seeing anything ese popping up on CL :\ (except way overpriced setups:irked:)
 
Yeah sounds like it was a scam for teeth whitening from the beginning...

If you wait a few months Petco's $1 a gallon sale will likely come back. Can get a brand new 55g for $55.
 
I was wondering about that...I almost bought the 40b last time (last month actually) just to have it (kicking myself now:grinno:) it just sucks to wait that long watching the JD beat up on the other fish. Its really not TOO TOO bad, but now that I've got it in my head, you know:p And I've already got driftwood soaking for it too :ROFL:
 
i would wait becuase craigslist always have some good deals. im getting a 120 with lids and stand for 225 tomorrow.
 
CL here doesn't have many good deals at all. 55 gallons are usually listed between 200 & 400$, 30's are around 150$ ...and thats usually just a tank & a stand, no lights filters or anything else.

Once in a longe while there tends to be a decent enough & even a good deal pop up, but I need this set up as soon as I can so its difficult to wait for one. I'm going as far as searching a 100 mile radius and I'm coming up with nothing:\
 
i dont understand, if you are flat broke why are u looking to buy more fish to stock your tank that only means more filtration and food which = $$$
