i just got a bichir for my bday this weekend, and one of its eye is all foggy, it's like a thick layer of fog is covering its eye. is that permanent or can that be treated? if it can be treated, wut should i do about it?
also, this guy is seriously smaller than its tankmates. it's about 5 inches long, and i have a jar da's pushing 15", and a female festae pushing 8". the other fishes don't realli pick on him, but feeding wise, i don't know if he can compete. any suggestions?

Possible to post some pix? We can have a better idea of the problem if we can see it (no pun intended).

Hey dude, it depends on how badly the eye is damaged. If it's just a slight haze over it then it should disappear with better water quality within a given time. If it's permanent eye damage then you'll have to live with seeing it on your bichir. The bichir will still live but eating wise you may need to feed sinking food at night. Is your bichir a Endli? Small Endlis usually do not feed aggressively like delhezis and senegals.

thx i'll post some pix 2nite, and thx joe, i'm not sure wut type of bichir it is, but i'm sure it's not an endi. the fog is not THAT bad, but u can definitely tell. well, i'll put up some pix

aiite, took some pix, they might not be that clear though...:(

realli hope that it's not too late or too bad...

my ornate (that is a P. ornatipinnis btw) has the same eye issue, it hasn't cleared up in the last few months so I think it's permanent. He gets along fine though, and he's competing with a turtle and a carapo knife for food. I feed omega sinking shrimp pellets mostly and he gets them almost as soon as they hit the bottom.

Looks like normal cloudy eyes to me. Add some salet after water change and put in melafix should be able to fix the problem.

salt or salad? :j/k:

I agree with the others though, keep up the water quality, and it should go away.

If it doesn't though, try Pimafix or melafix.
