So I have a 200 gallon tank and I believe the ballast is shot in the lighting fixture. Its very old maybe a decade old and tried a new bulb and nothing. So now I need a new setup. I need something that will light up my tank but will be white as possible. No halogen like light bulbs for your home. Anyone recommend what kind of bulbs I need and if I should get a shop light fixture and put it on top of my tank.

So whats the best light bulbs for my tank keep in mind I do not want algae nor do I grow plants whatsoever. I can do the DIY the king of DIY has but I'm not sure how long those ebay strips will last rather be able to just go to home depot and replace bulbs.

The LED strips are $18. I just put a set on my 210. They look great and you can customize to exactly the color you want.

Like I posted don't really want to do the LED strips like how the KING of DIY has it. I don't trust ebay lighting lol I'm sure it will be fine but my original lights lasted me a decade. With the humidity and water condensation I can't see these lasting more than a few years.

Replace the ballast, and go with the led tubes from Home Depot. Those bulbs are supposed to last a lot of years.......
Which LED tubes? Thats my biggest concern because I do not want algae growth due to the lights.

You know what I might just DIY LED strips from DIY the only thing is anyone have timers on them? Will they be at the last setting or a standard setting when turning back on?

You could try replacing the ballast, it's not very difficult.

I have actually 4 lights on there with that lighting and the connection is a 4 square pin setup. One bulb is like 20-30 bucks for it. Two of them are gone already and I know its the ballast because if I replace it with a good bulb won't work. Now the other side did the same.

This thing is ancient and don't want to spend 75$+ on it rather buy something for now and end up doing something with this later. It weighs a lot like 20lbs it has a built in fan in it as well that must be plugged in.
