I think when people see a business degree, they are going to assume you want to be in the management end of it. For an already established company, usually that is behind a desk . The people out working directly with the animals are more biology related or even have a construction/design background.
However, starting your own place is a good idea. But prior to doing that, I'd work with at least one other established place to get a feel for what works and what doesn't. It's a great thing to learn from someone else's mistakes. Where exactly are you located?
