These are located in central Texas and they were purchased by the store when they were fry. I'm hoping they're either
Ragani
Fesestratus
Zonatus
Guttulatus
Bifasciatus

These are the only pics I have. I have not purchased any nor do I plan on breeding them

Almost all Vieja look similar when young, and from those shots, its not possible for me to discern.
Just for reference here's a young V. melanurum.

fenestrata, zonatum, and hartwegii also look similar at that age, but when I had them, is before I had a descent camera so I don't have pics.
I tend to be leary of LFSs that don't post full scientific names, because ofallthe hybrids these days.

The lady claims she took them as fry from a guy that had been visiting the store about once a week before covid kicked off but he stopped coming in shortly after. I'm not opposed to buying what might be Melanura, but out of all the higher probabilities its probably my last option.

I do see a little red in the bigger male (picture) and was hoping for bifasciatus, fenestratus as those two have their fair share of red coloring.
