Yes, peruvians are the most common at least over here, but at that size and without origin - impossible!
 
how big is it? at small size it can be hard to tell, if it's from Peru then it could be sanchezi, compressus or rhombeus. try to take some large clear pictures so we can see the fish better. the picture you posted is too small to have a good luck

That's what I meant: You can't even begin to "guess" the local variant without knowing the species 100%

Pictures would be good indeed!
 
forsure its a rhom but difficult to identify which type till they are bigger because they dont start showing intensive color until 8" +++
