I have an 90 gallon tank and have oscars, green terror, flowerhorn ,firemoths, a JD and two craw fish. when it comes down to feeding i feed them flakes, granulets, live food (minnows) and for the craw fish sinking pellets. i would like to start feeding my fish new food.I read that some raw foods are a good source of protine. For example shrimp and beefhearts are suggested but i dont really noe if thats rite for my fish. if u can please suggest other food i can feed my and how to prepare them

:mwave: thank u :mwave:

keep it varied. I would keep feeding what you are already feeding but add shrimp, beefheart, peas, keep away from the live if you can, cichlid pellets, krill.....I'm sure there is more that i'm not thinking of right now.

They will love you for it:)

I concur with Rally. You may want to find a new home for the crawfish. Your O will chow down on them when they get big enough.

ok thanks for the advice about the the live feeders ill stop feeding them that and put them on pellets and ill even try peas which is a new one for me because i never herd that u can feed peas to fish but i gusses anything is possoble. and for the crawfish the oscar all ready started to peck at them but they leared their lession QUICK

i bought some of the varied marine diet. lot of algea of stuff. my cichlids love it.

i feed my oscars hikari gold pellets, oscar grow, cichlid flake, spirula flake (green), shrimp, bloodworm, squid, and i give them 4 feeders every couple of weeks. they are very happy and healthy. :)

Throw a pile of rocks in corner of tank. Get some convicts. Big enough so that they will not get eaten. They will breed and provide a disease ffree food source for your bigger cichlids. Plus it's FUN to watch. Don't be squeamish, it's just like nature!
