i need feeding advice

Throw a pile of rocks in corner of tank. Get some convicts. Big enough so that they will not get eaten. They will breed and provide a disease ffree food source for your bigger cichlids. Plus it's FUN to watch. Don't be squeamish, it's just like nature!

NO! Breeding cons are killers. Your other fish may be killed even though the cons are much smaller.

i feed my jack dempseys raw beefhearts raw chicken raw ground beef raw ground turkey too but only as a two to three time a week treat. the also love jumbo dried krill but only as a treat. remember small amounts only because it will pollute the tank and you will do more frequent partial water changes

I just read an article that suggested a Central American setup with convicts and jag's or some other large species. The premise of the setup was natrual food chain (large cichlids eating offspring of the cichlids and possibly convicts eating the other species' fry)

Fishfreak71 is suggesting the same thing; I think it is a good idea if aggression can be managed.
