No power heads mike check out my thread in set up and filtration don't muck up the inside of a big tank that way you figure out how much flow and where then drill the tank and run a pump in a closed loop thats my opion and i did it to my tank two 1 1/2 Bulkheads 5 inches off the bottom with 1 1/2 22.5 slip ABS
elbows so its fully ajustable to scoot the poop:headbang2 My 675 will have 9000 gph a hammerhead and a wave pump :naughty:
Also hey HillBilly i am goin to post the complete systems that W LIM Wave produces ...I can't say enough about the way i was treated there at their factory whearehouse the man who actually does the research and developemnt there Willam Lim took the time with Me just a guy buying a pump...Means alot to me customer Every customer being treated like the best and high quality Yes they may be a little more but if you mike spend this kind of money on filtration you gotttttt to have customer Support and they build the systems right here in Mira Loma CA ...A big plus for me I believe they will design systems for specific needs as well i am almost sure of it but you would have to contact them ...Anyway here ya go....

Yeah, that'll work. That's the same principle as a bead filter / bio reactor, different names, same type of filter. They work great. I have a much smaller bead filter on a 150 gal. discus tank stuffed with adults. The filter requires practically no maintenance. Hell, I haven't even back washed it in months, it's just not needed that often on that tank. I love those things.

Ya i bought the pump but i am building the filtration myself i want to do it plus it saves a couple bucks LOL!!

All great responses. I actually have a 901 power head with a sponge, a Ehiem pro and a 750 power head as well as a 400 hob. But the hammerhead would be the way to go along with the the wave pump. And a must would be throwing a sterilizer in there. Over kill is best imo.

cool tanks for the advice..i bought power heads but i totally bought the wrong ones for this monster tank..

which powerheads would you recomend? also one of my concerns is debri/poop catching on the bottom of the tank..

i'm not real good with brand names.. all (and i mean all) of the powerheads i have are used. some i got in tank deals, some i bought from folks that were changing their filtration and didn't want them anymore. i have a couple that look pretty hefty that don't fit on foam filters so i'm looking for something else to do with them or another type of filter to attach to them. lol.
