I have no clue on KH reading.I'll get it though-

Thats extremely odd. Your LFS should be able to test your water hardness. mine does. Otherwise I am clueless

With a low kH level under 4 degrees or 70 ppm, depending on how measured, your water is very unstable and you can have wide pH swings. Did you notice your pH dropping gradually?
 
Get a test kit for KH and GH. I wouldn't trust the LFS to do the job. If your KH is found to be very low, you can adjust it by using baking soda, or add limestones, marble chips, crushed corals or crushed oyster shells.
