blue gill arn't much of a predator more like an insect eater or scavenger so the crappie should be ok. my crappie got killed by the smallmouth because of territory and aggression .
we catch about 30 to 40 smallmouth bass ranging 3 inchs to 4 pounds using a small rooster tail in the summer time just about every time we go fishin at the merrimack river.
