I need help picking a catfish (or a group of them)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dont really want a spotted raph, as theyre very inactive and i want activity for my tank... Im going to get a festivum cichlid thursday or friday that i had ordered in september and a shipment just came in, so ill check the lfs then. If theyve got no asian bumblebees or hoplo cats ill grab some banjos or SABs or something...

my dad said i cant get a new separater tank for a puffer, so ive decided to look at the wonderful world of catfish. I think ive got an idea of what i want but any and all ideas/opinions/help would be appreciated.

tank is:

38gal freshwater:
filter- ac110
plants- crypts, anubias nana, small java fern
decor- driftwood/bogwood
temp- 78-81˚F
pH- 6.4-6.8
fish- 1 angel
1 ruby shark
1 BN plec
1 clown plec
1 whiptail cat
1 swordtail
small group of red & blue Colombian tetras

ive been thinking about getting one of the following choices:
6 south american bumblebee cats Give em enough hiding spaces and yeah
3 banjo cats Look just like whiptail cats lol.
2-3 spotted raphael catrs Not much activity.
2 striped raphael cats Not much activity.
1 spotted pictus These would give LOT'S of activity to your tank and I suggest you get three. It will take them a long time to grow as well and they max out around 6." They will be fine with tankmates.
1 black/asian upside down cat? Boring imo.
1 Lima No, they max out around 22" and need atleast a 180 for life.
opinions on the listed fish, particularly the ones with "?"s after their names would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance to anyone who can help!:D
btw if a fish cant go in my tank cause it will eat my other fish, i am able to get rid of the fish that may be eaten.

Thanks for the help. I wanna get pictus but 3 wont fit in my tank if i also get the cichlids i had ordered. My lfs usually carries dianema species (porthole & flagtail cats) and lotsa cory species and various other cats... Ill find something lol.
