I need a fish thats mostly a bottom feeder and is going to eat what the other fish in my tank miss or dont eat. It needs to be something thats going to grow to be a pretty good size as well so my other fish dont eat it when they get bigger. Its a 55g freshwater tank

Hmm..

Well 55 is not exactly a big tank.

So i guess the first question i would ask is what ARE the other fish in the tank?

Because what fish you get depends on
1 -> Tank size
2 -> Tankmates
3 -> Filtration

Hmmm a polypterus might work depending which kind. Just make sure the tankmates in your tank wont fit into its mouth.

Agree with ang,we need more info.

right now all i have in the tank is 1 EB jack dempsey and 1 Colombian shark (they are both about an inch long)

im using 2 penguin 350 HOB bio-wheels and a c-220 canister for filtration.

Pleco grows pretty big, so Geophagus Juripari no doubt, its an eartheater and gets about 6".

yeah i thought about getting some corys but i really dont wanna spend money on a fish that i know will soon become lunch for the rest of the tank lol
