Yeah i did some searching an found out that the asian red tail catfish is locally called a baung, so now i know that the one i own is an amazonian. :)

You appear to be shopping/buying a very serious, advanced fish for someone so new to the hobby, mate :) :) :) Your RTC and RTCxTSN will be at 2' mark in 1 year and 3' in 2 years, 4' in 4-5 years.

ARTC: http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=19

RTC: http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=305

Edit is only available the first 30 min after you post. Then it disappears.

thanks for the link it was very useful, i was fooled by my LFS.. told me that a juvenile TSN will turn silver overtime and the spots it has will eventually stretch out into stripes.:irked:

yes i'm aware of the growth rates of the specimens, and i'm currently working on a new tank for them.

aaahh so it only appears for 30 mins thanks for pointing that out :)

The RTC breaths through the atmosphere right? i have never seen mine do that.. is it normal?

Absolutely.

The RTC breaths through the atmosphere right?

Not at all. Many fish are able to supplement water breathing with air breathing - walking cats, pangasiidae, gars, arapaima, gouramies, etc. RTC is not one of them. There is no fish I know that breathes exclusively air.

Now why can't i find a nice hybrid like that here? lol Very nice fish.

lol same hes lucky it doesnt have a missing eye. tsn x rtc usually end up with missing eyes or no eyes.
missing eyes? how come? is it because bad genes or was it somekind of injury from shipment?

Does anybody have a picture for adult TSN x RTC? please do share..
