Yes, they do get pretty nippy when feeding. Also I've noticed that they're not very good at targeting; all the aquatics I've kept have been more than willing to hand-feed, but I never trust them not to miss and accidentally nail a finger.

no finger biting here.. haha..by the way Are my paints small for their age ..they are about 2.5 years old and about 4.5 inches across their shell...

Oh yea that is defenetly a bite wound, the claws may be as big as they are but would never be able to cause that kind of damage. Dont trim the claws, they are naturally that size.

That sounds about right. They don't get really big, especially males. I've seen females close to 8" but I don't ever remember seeing a male much over 6".

good i will get more pics this morning... still a little swelling around the neck but acts completely normal

my turtle recently got septicemia and was really bad. I'm still in the process of healing it. The, all of a sudden he got a bad cut on his arm. it got all puffed up, pussy, and red. all i did was put aquarium salt in the tank and now its healed up. the septicemia isnt healed yet, but the cut is.
