hello everyone. this is my first post. i have an australian arowana since he/she was 6 inches. now at 22 inches. i only had one major problen which occurred a long time ago which i have to administer antibiotics. a few weeks ago, i noticed the water turning too green with algae, i did a lot of water changes, minimized the timer for the lights which are (2) forty watt full spectrum fluorescents illuminating an 8' x 2' x 2' which i know should be upgraded asap, but still on the shopping mode for a wider tank. so i got these tablets for controlling algae. but it did not really help the problem. anyways, after the most recent water change which was a week ago, i noticed that arowani(my pet's name), developed these wart-like growth over the head with a severe protrusion on the left upper eye. it looks as if he/she bumped it really hard on a surface. it really looks ugly and gross and he isnt eating as lively as he did. any ideas on what it is and what i should do? i bought a new heater today and installed it at 79 degress F. the tank is in my NJ place, btw. Please help as I think I may lose my beloved pet!!!!

Why did the water have algae? - Was it nitrates or was it the light?
How is the water condition now?

Also make sure you have 5 posts first. Just post two messages saying "bump" here lol. Or thank you as well. :)

i would do a massive water change to make sure i get as much of those chemicals (algiecide?) out of the water. then maybe observe to see if he gets better/worse before treating him with meds.
