I finally got my 650g ready for fill, got it completly full when it sprang a leak on the very bottom where the front and bottom glass meet. I assume it is due to the tremendous pressure. Now i have a wet floor and once again an empty tank. Can anyone give some advice on how to repair this?

If its a new tank, take it back. Better yet, have them come get it.
If you are going to try and repair such a huge tank, I would get advice from an aquarium builder or a reputable glass shop. It could be anything from a poor silicone job to a hairline fracture in the glass. If the glass is actually cracked, you could laminate a piece over the crack...or replace the cracked piece.:(

If you are going to re-seal the tank, it is my understanding that a complete removeal of the existing silicone is required at least on the inside seams.

That is a true bummer.
Good luck.

Ya it really sucks. I wish the tank was new so that I could chew some ass, but I got it from the local marina. They used to keep bass in it. From what I can tell it looks as though the pressure actually bowed the front plate causing the silicon to seperate and leave a small gap. I can remove all of the old silicon and reset the glass I could use some pointers since it such a large tank.

I would create a lower surround for such a large glass tank, to prevent front bowing. SHould be easy enough using 2x4s. A friend of mine had the same issue with the sides of his tank. He made braces out of angle iron. 3 years later = no problems.

Yes, you need to remove all the old silicone to reseal the tank. Sorry 'bout your luck dude.

A brace across the center is manditory at the top and if it were mine and it leaked and I repaired it.....I would also create a surround for the top as well.

Dont scrap it. When it is repaired, it will be spectacular!
