I agree with the above, if your looking for an active playful fish then piranha aren't for you. Get some regular tetra's (I personlayy light neon tetras in large numbers)

I think most people don't realize what all needs to be done when first starting out in this hobby. I know I didn't know about things like cycling my tank etc... Fortunately it never resulted in loosing fish.

Again I would suggest returning the fish. You may end up not even enjoying keeping fish. If that happens your stuck with fish that need a 150 gal tank. I would seriously suggest getting a dozen rosey minnows for $3. They're really interesting fish. I keep a tank of them to have them breed food for my predator fish. And I actually enjoy watching them. These are easy/hardy fish. You can learn about the basics and in the future if you want to get piranhas you already have some food for them.

I would recommend a once weekly 50 percent water change,I would also feed them a little less.

This situation unfortunately happens all too often..people purchase before researching, followed by concern/panic.

As stated above, either upgrade to a much much MUCH larger tank, or, return them to where you purchased them from. I would say a 90 gallon tank is the "bare minimum" to house 4 red belly piranhas for majority of their life. Also be prepared to do at least a 50% water change weekly if not more so as well as sufficient filtration. Piranhas are very messy eaters.

Please take the advice that others have given. They have all been through this and have vast experience/knowledge when dealing with piranha.
Best of luck.

before starting my purchase of the breed i want "green terrors" ( well wanted umbi)
i went
cory > betta > tiger barb > rainbow shark & yoyo louch > kribs > rams > convicts and then finally green terrors. although most the speicies are nothing to do with cichlids but they do require water parameters once i got that right i went to kribs, rams convicts then green terrors.
