I need help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My bad I must have been thinking of someone else. But my bass WAS in my 800 gallon pond...Poor guy got killed by another bass that my buddy put in there :irked: and then that one died too. Keep the smallmouth. They are really cool fish.

hey topoftheline! i understand ur situation, its fine. im sure most of us here have experience or experienceing ur problems ryt now, i know i do.. i kept buying fish and OVER STOCKING the tank theyre in specially those small fishes like live bearers, guppies are my my number1 impulse buy.. its just theyre so cute and colorful... but after a while i get bored of them and feed them to monsters...

i think u will get past that, i think it will take time until u will realize the "fish" for you. but thats after buying a lot of fish and spending bunch of $$$. just my .02 cents bro.

now about ur tank, knowing that its just 35gal, those natives really have to go.
i suggest u keep ur stock on the lighter level until u have a bigger tank, u can play with the
dwarf cichlids and try to find what u really want.

again bro, dont take it too hard on urself. ur not the only 1 who did this... lookie here... (this is b4) 1 aro, 5big tinfoils, bala shark and a feifeng, pbass is there too but i cant see it. that was all in a 55gallon :(

get rid of ur fish and get some carnivious fish :P like arowanas, gars, bichars, datnoids, ATF, lol thats what would keep me intertained :D

for one thing, you seem to only buy 1 of each fish you're interested in. go get that 75 gallon, then when you see 1 or 2 fishes you like, buy several of each. most fish will be more interesting in schools.

:screwy: he has a 35 gallon tank and you want him to keep the fish stated above??? also i would say a smallmouth bass is very much carnivorous!

my advise would be to hang on to the smallmouth bass and upgrade to the 75 when the time comes. if you keep him long enough you will more than likely become attached to him and not be bored anymore.

1) If you find a fish you want wait three days before you buy it (hard I know, pretend it's in quarentine :D ).

2) Find a lfs that takes trades and get to know them so they know you have healthy fish.

3) Buy some heavy duty plastic tubs (I got some heavy duty 50g tubs @ Sam's Club for $13. each), make lg sponge filters and start getting really good grade and tell your parents it's because of the fish :D (good therapy).

4) Control yourself (no fun at all! and nearly impossible).

Good Luck,

Dr Joe

Learn to be an aquarist not just someone who has "fish tanks"
Fish can't be taken for a walk, handled, petted, etc., so for most "impulse" people, it does get boring.
Get the biggest tank you can, be patient in researching the fish you want and the requirements they need, and above all, LEARN about fishkeeping.
Yes, it is a "hobby" for most and an occupation for some, but when you get tired/bored of the hobby and move on to something else, what happens to the fish ??
Let 'em die?, take 'em to the local lake?, give 'em away to some other impulse person?
If you answered yes to any of these, forget the aquarium and find something less boring for you.
